Florida Back to Work Program

WorkForce One is accepting applications for the Florida Back to Work Program, however, the state has received 30% more applications than there is funding. All applications received will be submitted on a first-come basis and are subject to approval by the State and Federal Government.

Florida Agency for Workforce Innovation, in partnership with the Florida Department of Children and Families, Workforce Florida Inc., and the Regional Workforce Boards, has launched a program aimed at bolstering business, creating jobs, and reinvigorating the economy.

The Florida Back to Work program can provide up to $200 million in federal funding for jobs for Floridians who receive, or are eligible to receive, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), and can create nearly 25,500 jobs based on a $12 per hour salary. The program provides reimbursement funds to Florida’s businesses to cover the costs of employee wages and benefits. All available jobs listed under the Florida Back to Work program will be posted on the Employ Florida Marketplace – employflorida.com

The initial Florida Back to Work grants will be awarded beginning February 1, 2010. Public, private, for-profit and non-profit employers who have been in business for at least one year and are adding new positions are encouraged to apply.

**March 10, 2010 - Ft. Lauderdale - Many of you may have seen the press release from Governor Charlie Crist today announcing that Florida has received over $60 million of the $200 million to fund the Florida Back to Work Program. While WorkForce One is beginning to recruit candidates for the local employer projects that were approved, we are awaiting final clarification from the state regarding the methods of reimbursement and employer contributions. As soon as we receive this information, we will execute final contracts and employers can hire their eligible, qualified employees.
