You sent in your résumé, application and cover letter and OMG you got the interview - congratulations! Don't stop now, once you have submitted your application and résumé, any further contact you have with an employer should communicate your value and promote your candidacy for the position. The following guidelines will help you achieve those goals.

 

  1. I have social networking accounts, will they hurt me? – information on the Internet, including some things that you might have thought were “private” can easily be found by anyone, including potential employers. Therefore, you should clean up any information you would not want potential Employers to see on your profiles.

  2. I don't know anything about the company, what do I do? – companies are impressed with candidates who research the company before arriving at an interview. Visit the company's website, and use www.linkedin.com to find out information about the company, the position and the person who will conduct the interview.

  3. What if I can't find the interview location? – prior to the day of an interview confirm the interview location, then use Internet maps to get directions to the interview site. The most popular Internet maps are:
