Job Description
Summary
The Youth Employment Representative provides career counseling, job search/placement assistance and life skills coaching for youth Transitioning to Independent Living (TIL) from a group home setting. This is a temporary position and is subject to the terms and duration of the grant.
Duties and Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned)
Provide outreach to employers to identify job vacancies and assist employers in placing youth in positions related to their skills and interests. Develop and deliver workshops and training to youth to enhance job search skills, interviewing techniques, resume writing, and other skills related to independent living. Conduct assessments with youth to determine their skills, strengths, and career interests to assist in tailoring services to their needs. Follow up and provide additional assistance as needed for youth and employers to ensure youth are successful in their placements. Local travel to group homes required. Assist youth in identifying barriers to obtaining employment and assist them in linking to needed services such as transportation and childcare, to address these barriers. Maintain program records on youth, employers, and services provided in accordance with local, State and Federal guidelines. Provide periodic updates to the Youth Program Manager. Develop and maintain mechanism for progress reporting on all related activities. Collaborate with various center staff to assist in the coordination of activities with other support services agencies in the county to meet the needs of youth customers. Perform research on youth service issues as needed. Participate in agency’s quality improvement initiatives by continually focusing on improving customer service to the targeted youth population. Communicate with coworkers, management, staff, clients, the general public, and others in a courteous and professional manner. Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions. Respond promptly when returning telephone calls and replying to correspondence, emails, and faxes. Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Incumbent must be experienced in career counseling and/or job development, and demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills. Strong ability and demonstrated experience working independently and as part of a team to achieve assigned tasks are required. Incumbent must be proficient in all Microsoft Office applications; possess Word and Excel skills and possess the ability to utilize the Internet to conduct research and obtain data.
Education and/or Experience
A High School/GED is required. An Associates Degree in administration, social sciences, counsleing or related field is preferred. One year of counseling, job development, coaching and/or placement experience is required. One year experience working with at-risk youth is required. Preference given to those with experience working with youth in the foster care system.
Effective oral and written communication; the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employers, other employees at all levels, youth clients and the general public are required. Requires the ability to analyze data, problem solve, understand complex situations and prepare reports.

As This Classification Requires Ability To Drive Vehicles in order to do WorkForce One business, then successful candidates must have a valid Florida driver's license and will be required to maintain authority to drive vehicles throughout employment.
